LedgerPlus - Client/Server Setup


Creating The Shortcuts


To use LedgerPlus in a client/server configuration over a TCP/IP network first download it individually onto each of the client workstations and also the server workstation where you plan to locate the database.


On each client workstation create a shortcut to the LedgerPlus program LedgerPlus.exe and rename it LedgerPlus Client. Right-click on this shortcut and select Properties. Then click on the Shortcut tab.


In the Target field after the LedgerPlus.exe filename (and outside any quotation marks) add the command line parameter /c. (Or for a point-of-sale (POS) client use /p.) Then click on the OK button.



On the server workstation create a shortcut to the LedgerPlus program LedgerPlus.exe and rename it LedgerPlus Server. Right-click on this shortcut and select Properties. Then click on the Shortcut tab.


In the Target field after the LedgerPlus.exe filename (and outside any quotation marks) add the command line parameter /s. Then click on the OK button.



Double-click on the icon to start the LedgerPlus Server program.


Setting Up The Users


Double-click on the server icon on your system tray.



This will display the LedgerPlus Server main screen.



Go to the File menu and select Users.


To add a new user press the <Insert> key on your keyboard. (To delete hold down the <Ctrl> key and press <Delete>.)


Enter the user's name in the Name field.


Enter a password in the Password field. (Password's are optional so this field can be left blank.)


Double-click the Type field to select the user type as follows:


      An Administrator is allowed full access to all the functions in LedgerPlus.


      A Supervisor can enter, edit or delete entries in the cashbook, ledger, sales/invoicing, customer details or accounts but is unable to access stock control screens, reports or the Maintain menu.


      A User has the same access as a supervisor but cannot edit or delete entries.


To edit the details of a user click on the field you wish to edit and then click it a second time (as distinct from a double-click.)



Connecting To The Server


Double-click the icon on your desktop to start the LedgerPlus Client program.


Enter the server's IP address from the LedgerPlus Server main screen.



Enter the server's port number from the LedgerPlus Server main screen.



Enter the user's name and password.
